JUDICIAL COUNCIIL

The judicial council, established under the article 113 of the Interim constitution of Nepal 2007, is a body mainly responsible for making recommendations for the appointment, transfer, disciplinary action and dismissal of service of judges. Besides, it may recommend other matters relating to administrator of justice. The chief justice of Nepal could exercise the court of appeal and the district courts under the recommendations of the judicial council. The judicial council is composed on the chairmanship of the chief justice of Nepal. The Minister of justice and the senior-most justice of the Supreme Court are ex-officio members of the council. A senior advocate or on advocate who has at least twenty years of experience to be appointed  by the chief justice on  the recommendations of the Nepal Bar Association and a person to be nominated by the prime minister from amongst the jurist are other members of the council.
