Then, on the 22nd of Poush, 2017, he announced the implementation of an autocratic Panchayat System, further consolidating his control over the nation. The power dynamics took another turn on the 10th of Jestha, 2036, with the announcement of a referendum. The election for the referendum was held on the 20th of Baishak, 2037. Subsequently, on the 10th of Jestha, 2042, a non-violent civil disobedience movement began, and it gained momentum on the 7th of Falgun, 2046, formally starting a mass movement.
