PEACE PROCESS OF NEPAL
The comprehensive Peace Accord, 2063 BS was a significance
document in the overall peace process of Nepal. It was signed on 5th
Mansir 2063 BS between the CPN Maoist and Seven Party Alliance. It marked the
formal end of the decade long Maoist insurgency in the country. It was
concluded under active mediation of the UNMIN. The agreement was a code of
conduct for these parries in their attempts to work together in conflict management.
As per the agreement, Maoists army and arms were kept in cantonments. Maoists
involved in the interim parliament. Interim constitution was announced. On 28th
Chaitra 2064, elections of the Constituent Assembly held. After the election,
the Maoists even took the leadership of new government.
